В 1991 году заканчивает курсы экскурсоводов и без отрыва от основной своей работы водит экскурсии по Москве, по Московскому Кремлю, в Бородино, в Тарутино и по «Золотому кольцу». На последнем этапе своей жизни вспоминает три главные свои профессии, в которых работал долгое время и от которых получал огромное удовольствие - это токарь, конструктор и экскурсовод. В монографии, на основе изучения и обобщения результатов научных исследований отечественных и зарубежных ученых, собственных исследовании авторов по различным аспектам строительной науки и многовекового опыта проектирования и строительства зданий различного назначения, сделана попытка создания целостной теории здания. В первом томе рассматривается здание как часть пространства, ограниченного внешней оболочкой, внутри которой создаются заданные климатические условия. Сформулирована философия здания как сложной природо-техно системы с нестатичными стадиями жизненного цикла. Отслежена эволюция архитектурно-пространственных систем зданий и их типологии в увязке с функциональным назначением. Предложена методика расчета характеристик технологичности здания и определения рациональных параметров. Особое внимание уделено теории теплофизики оболочки здания и формированию микроклимата в нем. На современном уровне знаний о внешних воздействиях на здание - оболочку природных сейсмических и техногенных вибрационных нагрузок предложена методология расчета сейсмостойкости и виброзащиты здания. Сформулированы представления авторов о структуре и содержании последующих томов целостной теории здания. Авторский коллектив полагает, что книга может быть полезной для всех специалистов инвестиционно-строительной сферы деятельности: ученых, проектировщиков, архитекторов, строителей, а также для преподавателей, аспирантов и студентов строительных ВУЗов.
